Hours are from 7:15am until 6:00pm.

Ernest Myatt Children's Development Center opened September 5, 1972. The Center is sponsored by Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church. We are a FIVE STAR Facility!!

It was established because of the church's concern to offer excellent care for all children. The purpose of the Children's Center is to serve working parents in the community with a daycare program for pre-school children over two years of age, which consists of developmental experiences in keeping with the highest quality of early childhood education. As an agency of Ernest Myatt Church, the Center provides a Christian atmosphere where children can grow socially, physically, and intellectually, and where attention will be given to the individual's needs.

The Center offers an enriched program of development under the guidance of the State Department of Health and Human Services. Link to NC Divison of Child Development here.

Ernest Myatt Children's Development Center is licensed as a Five Star Facility - the highest being Five Star. To view specific information regarding the EMCDC license, click here.

It is important for parents to feel good about bringing their child to a safe and nourishing environment. We believe that each child has great potential and that a rich environment can make each child shine. We will encourage children to think for themselves, to explore, question, discover, and share what they have learned. They need an environment where they will not be afraid to try new things or to take that next step.

Children learn best when they are allowed to try new experiences as they become more self-assured. We will encourage, rather than push, and praise each new accomplishment no matter how small. Our staff is highly motivated to make sure that each child will achieve great things.

We believe that children learn through play. We offer a developmentally appropriate program where children will have fun while learning. We will read to your child daily, provide healthy meals and snacks and make sure they get plenty of rest. They will feel safe and secure and know they can count on the ones around them.

Ernest Myatt Child Development Center has been open for 40 years. We have 4 classrooms for children aged 2 to 5 years old.

The playground is divided into 4 sections. One section is for the two-year-olds; the other 3 sections are for the preschool age children and include a cement bike path. One unique thing about our playground is that we have a full service bathroom and water fountain located in the playground. This is a plus so that our children will not have to stop playing to go inside to used the bathroom or get water.

Probably our greatest asset is our experienced staff. Our teachers have an average of 13 years experience at this center. Many have worked at other facilities before coming here. Three of our staff members have been with EMCDC for a combination of 87 years! Our newest teacher came here when she was a child and is now enrolled at Wake Tech in the Early Childhood Associate Program. Her EMCDC teacher is still working with the 4 year olds!

When tropical storm Alberto knocked out power and the basement wall, destroying the kitchen and our heat and a/c system, staff maintained a calm and safe environment when parents were called to pick up their children. A parent came in for a pre-enrollment visit during the storm. She did enroll, saying if we could handle that we could handle anything! Emergency plans were quickly in place to reopen.  We are now back to fully functional with new bathrooms, kitchen and better-than-before temperature control.

EMCDC is not only a great place for children, but a great place to work. Our experienced staff is one of our richest Blessings.
